The latest economic report from ATA estimates the driver shortage to be over 60,000. What role has the pandemic played? Older drivers chose to retire while potential drivers found licensing difficult with the closure of state motor vehicles offices. The launch of the Drug and Alcohol Clearinghouse database also impacted the number of drivers on the road.
A number of companies raised pay as a means to not only attract new, qualified drivers but also acknowledge how valuable their current drivers have been throughout the year. But, what more can be done to combat the shortage?
Founder & CEO of DriverReach, Jeremy Reymer, joins TT's Dan Ronan for a conversation about the driver shortage, capacity constraints, and what fleets can do to help themselves.
